The last construct was useful, however, it doesn’t return a new array which might be undesirable for your specific case. map solves this by applying a function over every element and then returning the new array.1

reduce
From MDN:
The reduce() method applies a function against an accumulator and each element in the array (from left to right) to reduce it to a single value.1
